Ghanaian Womenswear label Bello|Edu, lead by designer Alima Bello, has been nominated for the Emerging Fashion Brand of the Year award at the upcoming Ghana Fashion Awards (21st November)and it’s not hard to see why with her latest collection, B|E.
Unveiled at Ghana Fashion and Design Week last month, we get a look at the collection with a lookbook showcasing the dresses, separates and a dressy jumpsuit. The brand believes “a woman chooses clothes that speak about her. Every dress communicates how she sees herself to the world.” and offers a variety each with a distinct personality.
Head designer Alima Bello has been inspired by her own recent experiences – restructuring Bello Edu after she bought out her former partner Kemi Edu and having her efforts recognised by the GFA nomination – to create a collection “to motivate the 21st century woman to become everything she can be. Any woman no matter her career or lifestyle can express herself style-wise with pieces from this collection hence, “Become Everything” (B|E).”
The collection features body conscious colour blocked crop tops, full length and midi dresses, crisp white shirts and a sheer black one, wide leg crepe pants, full skirted and pleated dresses and with names like Shape Shifter (a pink midi skirt that goes sheer after the knee), Lady Kaftan and Swinger Dress each piece offers the confidence of owning a look.
