With all the talk about butts lately, you would think the most requested surgical procedure in 2015 was butt jobs. However, breasts still seem to be winning the battle of butts vs. boobs according to new statistics by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
Surprisingly enough, breast augmentations were still the most-performed cosmetic surgical procedure last year — but that might not be the case for much longer. The number of breast procedures performed in 2015 (which was 279,143 if you’re wondering) actually went down 2 percent from 2014.
On the other hand, butt procedures, which include fat grafting, lifts, and implants, turned out to be the fastest-growing kind of cosmetic surgery last year. The ASPS calls 2015 the “year of the rear” and even says that every 30 minutes of every day last year, someone got a butt job.
Butt jobs still didn’t break the top five most-performed procedures though. After breast augmentation goes liposuction, nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, and tummy tuck, in that order. I’m no professional plastic surgery trend forecaster or anything, but I say give it a few years and butts will break the top five fo sho.
Also, I think I deserve a prize for making it to the end of this article without a single reference to Sir Mix A Lot’s “Baby Got Back.”
But I will leave the video here because it’s amazing and the song is a classic.
