MAC Cosmetics just announced they’ll be releasing a new lipstick shade in collaboration with Caitlyn Jenner on April 7, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the MAC Aids Fund Transgender Initiative.
Caitlyn told MAC in an interview that she preferred to go with a rosy nude shade, which she describes as an “everyday lipstick” rather than a “high-glam, once-in-a-while” shade.
“To be honest, I want people to use it every day so they have to buy more. I want to raise a lot of money. It’s very simple.”
The name of the new shade is “Finally Free,” which is a phrase Caitlyn says she uses often. “I wanted a name that I use, and which represents the community,” she said. “This is who I am: Finally Free.”
MAC’s VIVA GLAM campaigns famously donate to HIV and AIDS causes, but Caitlyn says she wanted this collaboration to be specifically geared toward raising funds for organizations that improve the lives of transgender people.
“And honestly, my ultimate fantasy — I never thought in a million years that it would ever happen — was to get involved with a makeup company,” Caitlyn told MAC. “When you’re going through all of this, that’s just like never going to happen, but wouldn’t it be something to be involved in a project like that? Boy, watch out what you wish for, because it came true.”
